Short description: The course contains the issues involving the specificity of natural animal reproduction on the example of mammals, birds and fish.
Full description: Biological basis of fish, bird and mammalreproduction – anatomy and functions of reproductive organs; ontogenesis, spermatogenesis, vitellogenesis, steroidogenesis; specificity of fertilization; genetic and environmental aspects affecting animal reproduction; reproduction methods and ways allowing to solve the problems concerned reproduction; evaluation of animal reproductive potency.

Learning outcomes: After course completion In area of knowledge 1. Student has got a basic knowledge in the field of plant, animal and microorganism biology. 2. Student has got a basic knowledge in the field of animal production technology. In area of skills 1. Student analyzes biological processes associated with animal husbandry. In area of social competences 1. Student is able to relate responsibly to animals.
Assessment methods and assessment criteria: Total credit (classes and lectures) based on the average of the marks obtained from three separate section (fishes, birds, mammals), and assessments of oral statements during exercise. Written tests (one, 20-30 minutes from each division) include issues discussed during classes and lectures. The presence at exercises is obligatory; student can have only one unexcused absence. In the absence excused student is required to pass the relevant part of the material. On completion it is necessary to obtain 60% of the points.
